It is an annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave in Jammu and Kashmir, where an ice stalagmite naturally forms the shape of Lord Shiva.
The yatra usually begins in June or July and lasts for around 45 days.
The traditional route is from Pahalgam, but there is also a shorter route from Baltal. Both routes involve trekking through difficult terrain.
The government takes extensive measures to ensure the safety of the pilgrims, including providing security and medical facilities along the route.
There are various options available, ranging from tents and guest houses to luxury camps and hotels.
The trek can take anywhere from three to five days, depending on the route and weather conditions.
Pilgrims are advised to carry sufficient warm clothing, rain gear, and high-energy food. It is also important to stay hydrated and avoid alcohol and smoking during the yatra.
We are just back from our 6N/7D Kasmir holiday. The entire holiday was planned by Nitu Sharma from Pluto Tours.
