The months of March through May and October through mid-December are the ideal times to visit Sikkim. Because they have the nicest weather, the summer and winter seasons are ideal for taking in the area's historic sites and natural beauties. When colourful flowers and tropical plants emerge in the spring, the greatest months to see nature come to life with splendour are March through May. For those looking for broad views of the Himalayas, autumn is the greatest time of year to visit because it offers a clear perspective of the magnificent range from October through mid-December. Furthermore, the best times to visit Sikkim are in the winter, from late November to February,
Sikkim's one airport, Pakyoung Airport, is located 31 kilometres south of Gangtok. The airport is located on 201 acres and is a greenfield site. At 4590 feet, it is one of India's five highest airports. First commercial airline operations began on October 4, 2018, with the airport opening on September 24, 2018.
As of now, Pakyoung Airport does not receive any international flights. Nevertheless, there are daily flights from Guwahati, Delhi, and Kolkata. There are direct flights from Pakyoung Airport operated by Air Asia, Spice Jet, Indigo, Air India, and Vistara.Â
It is best to arrange a journey to one of the major cities that have connecting flights to Sikkim if you are travelling from outside of India.
Apart from Pakyoung, Bagdogra is the closest airport to Gangtok. It offers frequent daily flights to many Indian cities as well as neighbouring countries like Bhutan. Bagdogra, which is 126 kilometres from Gangtok, is typically a convenient way to travel to Sikkim.
In addition, a helicopter service that travels 35 minutes one way is offered between Bagdogra and Gangtok.
A 50-kilometer train link that was supposed to run from Sevoke, West Bengal, to Rangpo, Sikkim, was put on hold in 2009. The closest stations in the interim are Siliguri (146 km) and New Jalpaiguri (NJP) (187 km). They are connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Guwahati, Kolkata, and many other places by train. After getting off, it's easy to find a pre-paid taxi to Gangtok.
The distance of 593 km between Kolkata and New Jalpaiguri is covered by a limited number of trains. The limited trains KOAA (12363), Testa Torsa Exp (13141), and Darjeeling Mail (12343) travel between Kolkata and New Jalpaiguri.Â
Guwahati to Siliguri, which is around 433 km away, is served by numerous daily and weekly trains. Saraighat Express (12346), Brahmaputra Mail (14055), North-East Express (12505), DBRT Rajdhani Express (12423), Kamrup Express (15960), and Abadh Assam Express (15909) are the trains that run daily from Guwahati to Siliguri.
A few weekly trains, including the Guwahati (15645), Karambhoomi (22511), LTT KYQAC Express (12519), Guwahati Express (15647), and KYQ SUVIDA Special (82505), travel the relatively longer distance of 1798 km between Mumbai and Siliguri
Many trains travel approximately 1466 km between Delhi and Siliguri on a weekly and daily basis. DBRT Rajdhani (12424), Avadh Assam Express (15910), North-East Express (12506), Mahananda Express (15484), and Brahmaputra Mail (14056) are a few of the trains that go between Delhi and Siliguri.
By bus, Sikkim is easily accessible. The Sikkim government operates fixed-rate buses between Siliguri and Gangtok through Sikkim Nationalized Transport (SNT), which departs from the bus station in Siliguri. From New Jalpaiguri (NJP) to Gangtok, buses are available. To go the 124 miles to Gangtok, many tourists take trains and get out at New Jalpaiguri.
The Sevoke Road connects the road routes from Bagdogra, New Jalpaiguri, and Siliguri and goes to the National Highway NH10. The path travels to Gangtok after passing through the Teesta region. The stunning River Teesta flows beside the road for a significant portion of it. The Nathu La Pass, which was a section of the old Silk Road, connects Tibet, China, with the north. After being closed for 44 years, this route is now open. A bus service between Gangtok and Lhasa is also being planned. Â

We are just back from our 6N/7D Kasmir holiday. The entire holiday was planned by Nitu Sharma from Pluto Tours. She took extra efforts suggesting and informing and making changes to see that our tour was well planned. All the hotels recommend and given were good, spacious and clean, the staff were very cooperative, the driver Waseem was a good guide showing and informing us everything through out the tour. We covered Srinagar, Pahalgam, Gulmarg Sonamarg & Doodpathri during our stay.
