Lakshadweep is full of surprises from the very first day on the island. You’ll be picked up at Agatti Airport and taken to your accommodation, where you can unpack your heavy bags and take a break. After lunch, you have all day to explore. And explore you will, because Agatti is, in a word, an amazing natural wonder. The lagoon created by the atoll of Agatti is ideal for afternoon walks. The water is perfect, crystal clear and for most of the island, it only rises to your knees. What’s even more delightful about the island is the people who live there. Most of them follow the Islamic faith, especially the Sunni branch, and Oppana (a traditional Muslim dance) is performed by them. There’s also a small minority of Hindus and Christians. Handicraft items made here are particularly noteworthy, as they are made using locally found corals and seashells as well as other materials.

After breakfast, we’ll take a boat to the deserted Bangaram and Thinnakara islands. Given the length of this boat voyage, with the islands around an hour and a half away, you’ll be happy to know that the dolphins and turtles who live in the seas below aren’t afraid to put on a show for those who choose to go through their enormous domicile. Thinnakara Island is also recognized for its beautiful landscape, with the surrounding seas providing a view of the bioluminescent algae that thrive there. We return to our home base on Agatti Island and spend the night.

After breakfast, there is a short break, so if there is a grain of sand left on Agatti’s beaches that you haven’t walked over, now is the time. There are also water sports that you can try, from scuba diving, snorkelling, and deep-sea fishing. These islands have everything you could want. After lunch, we hop back on the boat and head to another of the islands on this tour, Kalpitty Island. This is another island in the Lakshadweep Archipelago that is completely uninhabited and untouched by any form of civilization. After 45 minutes of a boat ride, you step out onto the island and enjoy a sunset like you have never seen before. Although we are tempted to spend the rest of our days here, we do have to head back to Agatti Island for an overnight stay.

If you think you’re a real adventurer, then you’ll have all day to test out all the water sports on the island. Kayaking is one of them. Going out onto the sea on a small rowboat, just you and your partner, and enjoying the serenity that this place provides, could be an unforgettable experience. Scuba diving is one of the best things you can do. The difference in life from above the sea to below the sea is something you’ll want to see for yourself. If none of these activities appeal to you, don’t worry, there are plenty of other water sports to choose from. Windsurfers, yachts, canoeists, etc. If you decide not to do any of these activities and just spend your time relaxing on the beach, then that’s fine too. A good night’s sleep after a day of activities ends with an overnight stay at Agatti Island. After all, this is your vacation, this is your honeymoon.
