A nice breakfast is served at the hotel as you awaken.
Prepare to explore the Cu Chi Tunnels, one of the most fascinating sites associated with the time of the Vietnam War.
Cu Chi, which is 200 km from Ho Chi Minh, is a network of tunnels that served as an underground city. It has several trap doors, particularly designed dwelling spaces, storage areas, weapons manufacturers, field clinics, command centres and kitchens.
Before beginning to explore these tunnels, watch a brief introduction video on how they were built.
When Cu Chi was a “Free Target Zone” in the 1960s, there is a tonne of documentation of the fierce battle that occurred here.
Return to Ho Chi Minh City after an hour of subterranean exploration.
When you arrive in Ho Chi Minh City, start your city tour by going to the former Presidential Palace, which served as the Saigon government’s administrative centre during the Vietnam-American War.
Visit the War Remnants Museum next, which has Vietnam War-related exhibits.
Visit the red-brick Notre Dame Cathedral, which was built with inspiration from the original Parisian cathedral.
Visit the French architect Gustav Eiffel’s creation, the Central Post Office.
The remainder of the evening is at your discretion, and you are welcome to tour nearby attractions including the Pink Church and Reunification Palace.
The Cafe Apartment is a fascinating old apartment block that has been converted into cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy your Vietnamese-style coffee. From there, you can sit and take in the colours of the setting sun.
The best shopping area in Vietnam is the Bn Thành market, where you may go on a buying binge.
Return to the motel to spend the night.
