Due to heavy rains, Tamil Nadu is experiencing considerable disruption. Heavy rains on December 18 caused significant flooding in the districts of Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi. The Indian Air Force and Indian Army have launched rescue efforts in response to the disaster.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) data, 39 regions in southern Tamil Nadu have received hefty rainfall. Heavy rain will continue on December 19 in areas such as Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Tenkasi.
Furthermore, temperatures have plummeted dramatically in various locations across the country, with snowfall falling in Jammu Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

Imd has issued a seven-day alert for significant rainfall in Tamil Nadu.
Additionally, the IMD has advised expecting mild to moderate rainfall on Tuesday, with certain areas in south Tamil Nadu expected to have precipitation. Furthermore, there’s a chance of rain in Puducherry, Karaikal, and North Tamil Nadu. During this time, one or two locations are predicted to see thunderstorms and lightning.
Delhi too saw a dip in temperature, with Tuesday morning’s reading of 22 degrees Celsius. The city’s minimum temperature, according to IMD, was 7 degrees Celsius.
With temperatures in many areas of the state falling below 10 degrees Celsius, Odisha is also experiencing cold waves. The cold wave that was still affecting the twin towns of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack persisted, with the minimum temperature for the third day remaining close to 13 degrees Celsius.
In the meantime, Haryana reported a low of six degrees Celsius on Tuesday and Punjab recorded a low of five.
Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir transformed into a winter wonderland after receiving new snowfall on Saturday. Nainital in Uttarakhand and other places such as Badrinath, Kedarnath, Pithoragarh, and Auli are also experiencing significant cold waves.
According to the IMD, Mumbai registered roughly 18 degrees Celsius, while Kerala will continue to receive light to moderate rainfall for the next three days.
