Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has been a key advocate of this endeavor. He envisions that the National Transit Pass System will help both the forest industry, and also help in sustainable resource management and environmental preservation.
The National Transit Pass System will simplify the entire process of application, issuance, approval etc, and will significantly reduce paperwork and other official obstacles. This will facilitate people to get necessary authorizations without much hassle.
As the entire procedure will be done electronically, it will substantially improve transparency, granting all involved parties immediate access to data, thus ensuring the legal transportation of forest products.
This modern system will further empower the forest department to better monitor and manage the movement of forest products, which will reduce opportunities for illegal logging and unauthorized activities.

The state has not only relaxed export limitations on diverse wood varieties such as Safeda, Poplar, Bamboo, and Kuth but has also created opportunities for the introduction of additional forest products into the market.
