HOW TO REACH :

To reach Kashmir-Leh, you have various transportation options available, and the most common ways are:

By Air:

The fastest and most convenient way to reach Leh is by air. The Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh operates regular flights from major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Srinagar. The flight duration from Delhi to Leh is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Upon arriving in Leh, you can start your journey to explore the beautiful Kashmir-Leh region.

By Road:

The road trip to Kashmir-Leh is an adventure in itself, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayan landscape. There are two main routes to reach Leh by road:

Srinagar-Leh Highway: This route starts from Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. It takes you through picturesque towns like Sonamarg, Drass (the second coldest inhabited place on earth), Kargil, and the iconic Zoji La pass. The road remains open from around May/June to October/November, depending on weather conditions.

Manali-Leh Highway: This route starts from Manali in Himachal Pradesh. The journey takes you through high-altitude passes like Rohtang Pass and Baralacha La, and beautiful regions like Keylong, Sarchu, and Pang. The Manali-Leh Highway opens from late May/early June to September/October, again depending on weather conditions.

It’s important to note that both road routes involve traveling through high-altitude areas, so acclimatization is essential to avoid altitude sickness.

By Train:

There is no direct railway connectivity to Leh. The nearest major railway station is Jammu Tawi Railway Station in Jammu, which is well-connected to various cities in India. After reaching Jammu, you can continue your journey to Leh either by air or by road, as mentioned earlier.
