By Air. : The nearest airport to Pangong Lake is Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport. There are regular flights from Delhi, Jammu, and Srinagar.
By Train: Kalka or Jammu is the nearest railway station to Pangong. You can easily go to Pangong from here by cab or taxi. Trains to Jammu run daily from Delhi and Mumbai Central.
By Bus: Pangong is 5 hours away from Leh. JKSRTC bus operators run daily buses between Leh and Pangong. Deluxe coaches are also offered between Leh and Pangong.
By Car: Driving to Pangong is possible from Leh via Changla Pass and Tungsten, despite the rocky roads. It is only a five-hour journey away.
Summer Season (March–June)
The best time to book Pangong tour packages is during the summer season, which lasts from March to June when the area is blooming with flowers and colours. The snow has melted, and the scene is more bright and clear. During March and April, the temperature remains low, ranging from 5°C to 7°C. Later, the temperature may climb to 15°C-30°C. As a result, it is the best time to visit this location.
Monsoon season (July–September)
From July until mid-September, the area experiences severe rains. It is a dangerous period to visit the lake because of the frequent rains, landslides, and snowfalls. There is a potential for roadblocks at this time of year. Therefore, it is not suggested to visit during this season.
Winter Season (October–February)
The winter season begins in November, so mid-September to October is also an excellent time to come. Early winters feature a good environment with acceptable temperatures. However, as November arrives, the area begins to freeze. During this moment, the temperature drops below zero. People who are confident in their ability to withstand the cold can visit at this time of year. Shortly after mid-January, the lake begins to freeze.
1. Chang La Pass: Chang La is one of the highest mountain passes in Ladakh. This pass is the 3rd highest motorway in the world. Despite the steepness of the pass and the need for cautious driving, people from all over the country travel through the pass for biking.
2. Spangmik Village: Spangmik Village is a quaint village situated on the banks of Pangong Lake. This village is situated between Chang Chenmo mountains and Pangong Lake and provides a beautiful view during the hours of sunrise and sunset. If you are visiting Pangong Lake then you should stay at this small village near the border of Tibet.
3. Tangste Gompa: It is one of the most well-known Buddhist Monasteries on the way to Pangong Tso. This monastery is the home of the 'talking statue' of Kyoba Rinpoche. The peace and tranquillity of this place draw thousands of visitors to this small, tranquil monastery. Therefore, this is a must-visit place for a tranquil retreat away from the noise of the city.
4. Thiksey Monastery: It is another Buddhist monastery built on the summit of Thiksey Hill. It is the biggest monastery in Central Ladakh. It is often referred to as 'Mini Potala'.
